OpenPro Application Guide Accounts Receivables (AR)
Chapter 15: Bank Accounts
Introduction
The Cash Accounts selection enables you to specify information about the bank account connected to a General Ledger cash account.
Three pieces of information are needed for each cash account:
- The name of the bank
- Your account number at the bank
- The number of the next deposit slip for the cash account
The cash account should already have been established; that is, it should be present as an entry in both the General Ledger Chart of Accounts selection and the Cash Accounts selection. To access Cash Accounts, you can choose to click on Bank Reconciliation > Cash Acct or General Ledger > Maintenance > Cash Acct.
You are not required to make an entry in the Cash Accounts selection corresponding to every entry in the Chart of Accounts selection—only for those cash accounts into which you intend to deposit your A/R cash receipts.
The information entered in this selection is necessary in order to process deposit slips. This process is described in the “Deposit Slips” chapter. It is needed for interfacing receipts into check reconciliation, and is also an integral part of the cash history process. If you are not interfaced to the OpenPro.com Check Reconciliation package, you can still use A/R to prepare deposit slips; however if you prefer to prepare these manually you may skip this chapter.
Bank account data is stored in the Cash History file. It does not have its own edit list, and you can only view it via this selection.

Once you have done this, click on the green Edit button located to the left of the account. This will take you to the screen similar to the one in which you first entered the original information. Input all of your changes and click on the “Save” button located at the bottom of the screen and all of your changes will be saved.
To Delete
In order to delete a cash account go to the main Cash Acct screen and find the account that you would like to delete. Once you have done this, click on the red Delete button located to the very right of the account. Click on this button and it will ask, “Are you sure you wish to remove [this account]?” Pressing “OK” will delete the account and clicking “Cancel” will take you back to the previous screen.
Cash Account Reports
You can also print balance reports from the cash accounts section. From the main Cash Acct menu, choose an account and click on Balance. This will give the payroll statement for that particular account.
Cash Account information is used in Receivables when entering a cash receipt. The next chapter explains cash receipts in detail.
